DTS & DAS Solution
"DTS" stands for Distributed Temperature Sensing, and "DAS" stands for Distributed Acoustic Sensing. Both technologies use optical fibers to monitor environmental data in real-time. While they share the ability to collect continuous data over long distances, the type of information they gather and their applications are different.
DTS (Distributed Temperature Sensing)
DTS is a technology used to measure temperature along an optical fiber. It operates based on the Raman scattering effect. When a laser beam is transmitted through an optical fiber, a portion of it is scattered and returns. By analyzing the intensity and time delay of the scattered signal, the temperature at each point along the fiber can be measured.
01
Continuous Temperature Measurement
DTS can measure temperature with high spatial resolution along the entire length of the optical fiber.
02
Long-Distance Measurement
A single sensor cable can detect temperature changes over tens of kilometers.
03
Real-Time Monitoring
DTS provides real-time temperature data, allowing for quick detection of environmental changes.
01
Oil & Gas Pipelines
Detect temperature variations to identify leaks or defects in pipelines early.
02
Fire Detection
Rapidly detect fires in tunnels, industrial plants, and equipment.
03
Geothermal Energy
Monitor temperature changes in geothermal reservoirs in real-time.
DAS (Distributed Acoustic Sensing)
DAS is a technology used to measure acoustic vibrations along an optical fiber. It utilizes the Rayleigh scattering effect, detecting vibrations or sounds that occur along the fiber and analyzing them. Vibrations cause tiny changes in the curvature of the fiber, which are optically detected to gather sound or vibration information.
01
Vibration and Acoustic Detection
DAS can continuously measure vibrations or acoustic signals along the optical fiber.
02
Long-Distance Monitoring
Acoustic and vibration data can be collected over tens of kilometers.
03
Real-Time Data
It can detect vibrations or abnormal events in real-time, enabling immediate response.
01
Pipeline Monitoring
Detect leaks, damage, or unusual operational activities in pipelines.
02
Railway Monitoring
Track train movement, detect track defects, and monitor train positions.
03
Security Systems
Used for intrusion detection, tunnel monitoring, and environmental surveillance.
Differences between DTS and DAS
Both solutions leverage the sensitive detection capabilities of optical fibers, making them valuable technologies for real-time monitoring of large-scale facilities or infrastructures.
01
Measurement Target
DTS primarily measures temperature changes, while DAS detects vibrations and acoustic signals.
02
Application Scope
DTS is used in industries where temperature monitoring is crucial (e.g., geothermal energy, pipeline leak detection), whereas DAS is widely used in industries requiring vibration and sound detection (e.g., security, railways).
